Are you interested in furthering your career, building your network of professionals, strengthening your leadership skills, and implementing new ideas within our workplace learning community?

THE OPPORTUNITIES
If so, your ASTD-Cascadia Chapter has some incredible opportunities for you. The majority of the current Board of Directors are reaching the end of their year term. The leadership of our organization operates at several levels so there are many opportunities for giving back.

Specifically, the Board of Directors is looking to fill the following Board-level positions:

  • VP of Geographical Interest Groups (GIGs)
  • VP of Marketing and Communication
  • VP of Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
  • VP of Learning Technologies
  • VP of Human Resources
  • Secretary

We are also looking for enthusiastic and interested individuals who want to work with the various VPs as a Director. Directors are lead volunteers and it is another way for you to be involved in the Chapter leadership.

For more information on the Board position descriptions, please review the Policies and Procedures Manual. The VP of Learning Technologies is a new position and the description is being developed.

REQUIREMENTS
Serving as a Board Member of your local ASTD Chapter involves a minimum one year commitment beginning in November 2008. We look for energetic, creative, and passionate people who want to learn and bring their unique leadership to the chapter. As a Board Member, you will learn various aspects of chapter operations, and volunteer management including our history, policies & procedures, current practices and bylaws. Requirements include maintaining current Chapter and National memberships (the Chapter will provide a partial subsidy for the National membership), having Internet access and an active email account that accepts attachments, as well as MS Office software (notably Excel and Word) or something compatible. Attendance at monthly Board meetings and at various programs is also expected.

Be assured that the Board of Directors, Chief Learning Officer and Chief Operating Officer will actively support you. We are a dedicated and cohesive leadership team who are looking for outstanding volunteers!

BENEFITS OF BEING A BOARD MEMBER

  • Be part of a group with rich workplace learning knowledge where you will teach each other and learn from each other.
  • Shape the focus and operations of the Chapter.
